Tennessee Mountain Tunnel
In the Great Smokey Mountains it seems that you either go around the mountain in tight switchbacks, pig tails and hair pin turns or you go through them, literally. I drove through more tunnels here than I have in all my life! They are all attractive. I couldn’t help but draw comparisons between this kind of tunnel and the mega highway tunnels of Boston (Big Dig). I’ll take the Tennessee Tunnels any day.
